TARDIS Expo 2010

The Third Annual TARDIS Expo is set to take place at TARDIS region in Second Life this year, October 9th and 10th.  Details to follow on that, but having participated in last year's, I can tell you that it is a fun way for builders in Second Life to show off their work.  People make their own TARDIS exteriors and present them at the exposition.  Two days of music, dancing, and builds...fun for the whole family!  See the ad below.

I will, of course, be participating in this year's expo.  I'll have all my exteriors displayed, and maybe a console room or two.  I'll keep you updated as I learn more details.

A Two-Part Series for Doctor Who Next Year!

According to an article in The Guardian, Doctor Who head writer Steven Moffat announced in a video-recorded interview, which also included series co-star Karen Gillan, that the next season would be divided into two halves, to be treated as separate.

"I kept referring to a mid-season finale. So we are going to make it two series – seven episodes at Easter building to an earth-shattering climax, a cliffhanger we could never normally do because it would be too long before it came back. An enormous game-changing cliffhanger that will change everything.
"The wrong expression would be to say we are splitting it in two. We are making it two separate series.
"What I love about this idea is that when kids see Doctor Who go off the air, they will be noticeably taller when it comes back. It's an age for children. With an Easter series, an autumn series and a Christmas special, you are never going to be more than few months from the new series of Doctor Who.

This is certainly an interesting development, to put it mildly.

Freebie Items!

We have two freebie items from Archangel Network, the main vendor location for which is at TARDIS region.

http://slurl.com/secondlife/TARDIS/223/227/2669

The first is a sonic screwdriver-inspired prop.  It is seventeen prims and has animated energy-flow textures.  A scripted version with cool special effects and other features is in the works.

Up next is a biggie.  It's a flying saucer inspired by the Dalek time ships from the RTD era of Doctor Who.  It is a mere nineteen prims, but it is quite large — 52x52 meters.  A smaller, 10x10 version will also be given out through the vendors later this week.  The saucer is no-modify.

If you like Doctor Who in Second Life and want some props to spruce up your land, these are good items to do just that.
